The Bing Lee Sydney Bears are pleased to confirm the signing of Bodie Jerome for the upcoming Australian Ice Hockey League season.
It’s a big week for Bodie as the young forward celebrates his 19th birthday (Jan 11) before representing Australia at the U20 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Division II B tournament in Serbia from January 18-24.
The tournament will mark the third occasion Bodie has worn the green and gold, having already competed twice at the U18 level. In Bodie’s last U18 tournament (2024), he recorded seven points (4G, 3A) in five games and earned Best Player honours in the team's opening game against China.
Bodie Jerome is not only a big part of Australia’s national team plans, but he is also a big part of the Sydney Bears’ future.
“We’re excited to welcome Bodie to the Bears and support his transition to the AIHL level”, Nathan Graham, Sydney Bears Director of Hockey Operations, stated in response to the signing.
“The 2026 season signals the start of a new and exciting era for Bears hockey, and adding a player of Bodie’s talent and character is the perfect way to commence our pre-season” Graham concluded.
For Bodie, the signing is deeply fulfilling on a personal level. “Growing up watching and being around the Sydney Bears organisation has always made it a dream of mine to play for them one day”, Jerome revealed.
“I’m incredibly excited to kick off the season with a great team and can’t wait to play in front of all the amazing supporters.”
