Sydney Bears Host First Annual Ladies Night

It’s with great pride that the Sydney Bears dedicate Sunday's game against the Melbourne Mustangs to the women who have shown their support for the club and to those who have tirelessly dedicated their time to helping make the team and ice hockey what it has become today.

On Sunday, it’s about us saying thank you. To the mothers who drove our players to peewee games, and some who still drive their boys to AIHL games. To the girlfriends and wives who support their partners to play the sport they love and put up with the weekend travelling... and late night trainings... and the car rides home after a loss. To the dedicated off-ice team who work endlessly behind the scenes to make every game day an unforgettable experience for our fans. And of course, to you, who comes to every game and cheers for your Sydney Bears. Without the support of these incredible women, we couldn’t be the team we are. Thank you.

Ladies Night is also a celebration of women in sport. It’s not just the women who are involved with the Sydney Bears that have helped us grow the game to what it is in Australia. The Sydney Sirens have proven the incredibly high skilled hockey that women play in this country. They are an inspiration to every little girl who laces up her first pair of skates; they are the hope that these young women too, can achieve their dreams. Tonight, we’re celebrating the dedication and hard work that, the Sirens and all the women who play all levels of hockey put into the sport, to make themselves even better athletes, to be the idols for the next generation of female ice hockey superstars in Australia and the world. On Sunday, we’re celebrating you.

We felt Ladies Night wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t give back to the community. So, we felt it was only natural that we raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Breast Cancer is something that has touched many of the lives within our community and so we’re committed to helping the NBCF’s goal of reaching zero deaths by Breast Cancer in 2030. These women are some of the strongest in the world, so please, if you haven’t already, dig deep and donate now

From everyone at the Sydney Bears, thanks for coming out to the game and helping us paint the rink pink, we hope you enjoy our first annual Ladies Night.
